Caused by Pseudogymnoascus destructans (Pd) a fungus that thrives in cold damp conditions like caves.
Treatment Options
See BCT WNS guidelines for bat carers or contact BCT if fungal infections are identified in examination, for example, bats with a white fungus particularly around the nose, but also on the wings, ears and/or tail.
Considerations
The fungus (Pd) has been confirmed in the UK. There is however no evidence of the syndrome observed to date. See H&S>White-nose syndrome
