| West Yorkshire Bat Group consists of a number
of
people, including several licensed bat workers, interested in finding
out more about bats. The group undertakes surveys of both new and
existing bat roosts, researching and recording the behaviour,
distribution and habits of the bats in order to further our knowledge
of these fascinating and elusive creatures. The Bat Group also works in conjunction with Natural England for the conservation of bats and their habitats by surveying sites to be redeveloped and by giving advice on bat related issues to householders, companies and administrative bodies. Throughout the year members are involved in giving talks to a variety of groups about bats, and in the summer months organize a series of bat walks and events throughout the county. In recent years the Group has been involved in several schemes, making, putting up and monitoring bat boxes.
